The Duchy Award

Launching in September 2026, the Duchy Award is an exciting new baccalaureate-style programme for pupils in Years 5 to 9.
Designed to bring purpose, passion and pride to every pupil’s learning journey, the Duchy Award recognises and celebrates excellence in all its forms, both in and beyond the classroom.
A Holistic Approach to Learning
The Duchy Award encourages pupils to:
- Find purpose in their academic studies
- Broaden their experiences through new challenges and adventures
- Step outside their comfort zones and try new things
- Grow in confidence, character and creativity

Eight Strands for Achievement
At the heart of the programme are eight key strands, embracing every aspect of school life, from academic excellence and extra-curricular enrichment to wellbeing, leadership and community involvement. The eight strands of the programme are:
Pupils earn Duchy Points across these strands, which contribute to award levels of Pass, Merit or Distinction. They can also achieve special recognition by excelling in a particular strand, such as a Distinction in Leadership.
Each new academic year brings a fresh start, with points resetting and exciting new opportunities awaiting as pupils progress through the school.

Celebrating Success
The year culminates in a special Duchy Award Prizegiving Ceremony, where pupils’ achievements are proudly recognised and celebrated by the whole school community.
