For a number of years, Highfield has been supporting the building and on-going development of a new school in Bombo. They have also been supporting the children who attend the school and their families through an innovative sponsorship scheme.

The pupils flew out to Uganda along with their parents and some of the teaching staff from Highfield in order to visit the school and meet the children they have been supporting.

The trip was the first to be undertaken by the school with children so young and the children certainly won’t forget their African adventure in a hurry.

Highfield teacher Andrew Hart, who led the trip said,

“I’ve never led a trip as ambitious as this with children so young, but they were absolutely fabulous. In some ways because they were so young they didn’t go with any preconceptions of what they would find when they arrived in Uganda.  They just threw themselves into all situations they face.  They should feel very proud of themselves and I hope the trip inspires them to continue supporting others in the future.”
