Nutrition is a really important aspect of our all round pastoral care. We work to encourage all students to develop positive attitudes to food, eating and nutrition.
We have an amazing, award winning Catering Team made up of talented and creative Chefs and Sous Chefs who are dedicated to the well being of our students. All of our meals are freshly prepared on-site using seasonal, free range and organic ingredients, 90% of which are locally sourced.
Every day we serve breakfast, lunch and supper as well as mid-morning and afternoon snacks for all students, including Day Girls – just one of the benefits of being a day girl in a boarding school.
Each mealtime offers a wide choice of dishes – our Chefs draw inspiration from around the world to ensure the menu is interesting and varied. There’s always a salad bar on offer at lunch and supper times and a plentiful supply of fresh, seasonal fruit. Our homemade bread is a particular favourite – in fact it’s so popular that we hold an organic Bread Shop every Friday so that parents and students can buy our bread for the weekend!
We cater for all dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, halal, nut-free and gluten free. Our Catering Team works closely with students and their families to address individual dietary needs – we’ve never come across a requirement yet that we couldn’t accommodate!
We are the only independent school in Yorkshire to be awarded the Food For Life Silver Catering Mark which is awarded to organisations who use fresh ingredients which are free from trans fats, harmful additives and GM. We are also a Fair Trade FairAchiever School which is awarded to schools who have fully embedded Fairtrade into their daily life and work to raise awareness of Fairtrade in their local community.
We think our food and our attitude to nutrition is pretty special, but don’t just take our word for it! We have an open invitation to parents to come and try our food – just let us know beforehand so we can set you a place!
