Duchy College Reception Class Drop Ins - November 2025

As we prepare for an exciting new era as Duchy College Prep in September 2026, we’re delighted to invite you to join us at one of our informal Reception Class Drop In Sessions in November 2025.

The drop in sessions are taking place on Wednesday 12th, 19th and 26th November at 9.30am-10.30am and 11am-12pm. Whether it’s a first visit, or a follow up from our recent Open Morning, you’ll have the opportunity to take a deep dive into the Duchy College Reception classes. 

Who Should Attend?

Our Reception Drop In Sessions are specifically designed for parents of children who will be starting “big school” in September 2026.  Please feel free to bring your child with you or come on your own, whichever works best for you.

What to Expect at Our Reception Drop-Ins

  • Spend time in our Reception Classes and dedicated Reception outdoor space.
  • See and hear the children as they engage with their learning and the daily routines of “big school” – they’re making wonderful progress in their first term!
  • Spend dedicated time with our Head of Early Years and Reception Class Teacher, Sadie Herring.
  • Delve into specific details about the Reception curriculum, timetable and specialist teachers including Swimming, Music, Drama, PE and Forest School.
  • Discover the incredible things that happen in Reception across the year to make your child’s first experience of school truly magical!
  • Ask questions about life in Reception at Duchy College Prep and how we support pupils and parents as they make the important transition to “big school”.

Stay and Sing

If you and your child decide to join one of the 11am sessions, why not stay on and attend our free “Come and Sing” session with our Head of Music, Clare Gray.  This is a lovely opportunity for parents and children to sing, play musical instruments and socialise – lunchtime refreshments are also included.  “Come and Sing” takes place in our prep school hall at 12pm each Wednesday.
