Harrogate Ladies’ College and Highfield pupils shone at the recent Harrogate Competitive Festival for Music, Speech and Drama, with 14 winners and 21 pupils placing in the top three across the festival.

Nine of the winners were College pupils, including a 1-2-3 finish in Year 7 Verse Speaking and first place in the Year 9 and under, Year 13 and under and Church Music (Open) choir categories.
Highfield amassed five winners and 17 top three finishes, with pupils taking home honours in singing, verse speaking and musical instrument classes.
We are exceptionally proud of every single pupil who represented the school in the recent festival. These excellent results are testament to our outstanding performing arts provision, with exceptional pathways and opportunities for all pupils, ranging from Pre-School to Sixth Form. Opportunities such as the Harrogate Competitive Festival play an important role in nurturing excellence and allowing pupils to represent the school with pride.
Joanna Fox, Principal.

These results continue a strong start to the year for the performing arts department at College, with the Chapel Choir gaining a place in the National Choir Competition Grand Final for the third consecutive year and three successful performances of the annual school production.
Performing arts at Highfield have taken centre stage this term, with Prep 5 and 6 pupils participating in the Young Voices concert in Manchester, collaborating with other schools as part of Junior Orchestra Day and a fantastic Choir Celebration Concert to end the spring term.
