Highfield Celebrate Students’ Ballet Success

A pupil from the HLC family of schools is celebrating gaining a place with a prestigious ballet programme after beating the competition at intensive audition processes.

Highfield Prep pupil Oscar Crellin has been accepted onto the Royal Ballet School Junior Associate Programme following his recent successful audition, which saw him compete with a thousand students for just a handful of places.  Oscar, who trains at the Yorkshire Ballet Institute under Lucy Emery has now commenced classes with teachers from the Royal Ballet School via Zoom. Teacher Lucy who also attended the Leeds Junior Associate Programme at the same age as Oscar said,

“It was apparent from his first lesson that he is blessed with a natural talent and physique for ballet, and it’s been wonderful to watch his progress over these past few years. I’m incredibly proud of Oscar and so happy that he will get to experience this first step of the journey that I took myself”.
