Leading The Way In Charity Fundraising For CARE International UK

Pupils at Highfield Prep School in Harrogate are the top school in the country lending through Lendwithcare, a poverty fighting initiative of charity, CARE International UK.

Lendwithcare is a revolutionary way to help people in low-income countries to work their way out of poverty with dignity. Currently at work in twelve countries, Lendwithcare allows you to lend as little as £15 to fund a small business with the option to recycle your loan to support another entrepreneur once the money is repaid. Highfield Prep School have been supporting Lendwithcare for the past two years helping some of the poorest communities around the world who are unable to access traditional banks. Through a variety of fundraising initiatives organised by staff and pupils, Highfield have now lent a staggering £5,659.18 to a total of 871 entrepreneurs around the world to help them escape poverty through their own hard work. This puts them as the top school lender in the UK.

Highfield will be raising additional funds via their annual Christmas Jumper day to boost their ability to lend even more.

Head of Highfield James Savile said,

“Lendwithcare is not only a vital initiative that supports some of the poorest people across the world, but also an incredibly useful educational tool we use to teach our children about the world, poverty, economics and money. We are very proud to support Lendwithcare and the work of CARE International, and hope with the hard work and generosity of our Highfield community to be able to continue to lend even more money to those who need it most. It is in tough times like these that charity work has never been more important, and we are very proud of our whole school community for all of their efforts and dedication to our chosen charitable causes”.
