About Highfield Prep School, Harrogate
Highfield Prep School (Duchy College Prep from September 2026) is a leading independent prep school for boys and girls aged 4-11 years in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Children join our prep school from across Harrogate and surrounding areas, and are taught in small class sizes which enable us to focus on their individual development. This approach helps our children to achieve their full potential both inside and outside of the classroom. They have a strong sense of who they are and of the world around them.
By the time children leave us they’re fully equipped to tackle the next stage in their educational career and go on to achieve great things beyond our school.

- Our passion for learning – Children at our school love to learn – it’s part of our culture; part of who we are. We believe in learning through real life experiences and our curriculum is full of exciting opportunities that enable children to achieve their full potential. As well as fantastic class teachers, children also benefit from specialist French, PE, Drama, Music and Swimming lessons every week from Reception, as well as specialist Art in Prep 5 and 6.
- Our extra-curricular programme – With almost 50 extra-curricular activities to choose from, children at our prep school have the opportunity to try new things; learn new skills and develop their individual talents – all within the school environment.
- Our school community – Children at our prep school are happy, articulate and confident – in fact we think they’re pretty amazing! We also have incredibly supportive parents; dedicated staff; and a strong sense of community – all of which are key to the success of our school.
