YOUR DAUGHTER EVENING (May 2011)
Towards the end of 2009, the Girls’ Schools Association (GSA) introduced a new initiative in the form of a website called mydaughter.co.uk and this then led to the publication in February 2011 of “Your Daughter – a Guide for Raising Girls”. As a member of the GSA, Harrogate Ladies’ College welcomed this excellent source of practical, helpful and comprehensive advice for parents trying to negotiate the challenges of raising a daughter in today’s world.
At HLC, we take the development of tomorrow’s women very seriously and in May this year we were the first GSA school to offer a practical session for the parents of daughters who are facing the trials and tribulations of adolescence.
This was a wonderful opportunity to hear and share ideas about:
- Social networking and Internet safety;
- How to support learning and revision;
- Friendships, self-esteem issues and moods;
- The importance of a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally.
The event proved to be very popular with a wide range of parents and we have been asked to repeat the event in the new academic year!
