Remote log-in to your account and documents from outside school
For this you need to run the ‘Remote Desktop Connection’ software which is incorporated into Windows XP and Vista (and available for Apple Macs & Unix machines) whilst your computer is connected to the Internet.
Look for the ‘Remote Desktop Connection’ program (usually in the Accessories >> Communications Program folders). When it shows the box to enter the computer address, type ts.hlc.org.uk which will take you to your usual network log in prompt. The Remote Desktop Connection program provides a number of settings you can use to set up local printers and drives so that you can print out documents kept on the school system or transfer them to your local disks or USB sticks.
To keep the server speedy and to comply with licensing, only the more common software programs we hold are available but if there is something you think would be really useful to add, just let us know.
