Two groups of girls spent the morning at Bettys Cookery School; the Lower 5 Home Economics class and Upper 5 Food Technology girls.
After watching a demonstration of bread making, the girls learned about the ingredients and the techniques needed to make bread successfully. Then it was their turn to make a shape and a batch of bread rolls. Shapes ranged from intricate plaits to ‘Bettys mice’, to cats and even a rabbit with rather large ears!
Whilst their bread was left to prove, the girls visited Bettys famous bakery. They watched chocolate badgers and huge chocolate eggs being made for Easter and finished in the wonderful cake decoration department where cakes for the Queen’s Jubilee are being developed. Altogether a fantastic morning.
