BURNS’ NIGHT, KEEP CALM AND WEAR TARTAN!

On Saturday 28 January, Harrison Catering Services served up a Burns’ Night banquet for the boarding girls. The Haggis was paraded in by Zahara Zaman and poems were read before the girls tucked into their supper.

Haggis, of course, was on the menu as a starter for any brave girls who wanted to try traditional Burns’ Night fare. Quite a few did try and enjoyed it. The menu of Cock-a-Leekie Soup, Scotch Roast Beef with Neeps & Tatties and Roast Carrots and Strawberry shortbread was a real treat for all.

Then it was off to dance the evening away at a ceilidh .  Age and social barriers were smashed as everyone united in the effort of counting themselves through the dances:

“Forward, two, three, four.
Back, two, three, four.
Spin, two, three, four.
Waltz, two, three, four.”
