A third of all pupils achieved a clean sweep of 3 A* or A grades and 66% of all grades were A*-B.  There were excellent results in subjects such as Biology with over 45% A* grades and pupils achieved 100% A*-B grades in a total of 10 different subjects.

Girls from the school have already secured places at some of the UK’s top universities to study subjects including Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, Physics, Biochemistry, Architecture, Economics and Law.

Sylvia Brett, Principal of Harrogate Ladies’ College said,

“I am so delighted that the girls have achieved such excellent results.  I know how hard they’ve worked and I’ve seen their grit and determination to succeed.  They should be immensely proud of their success”.

“Today’s results mean that the girls now have amazing opportunities open to them as they move onto to the next phase in their lives.  We always encourage our pupils to be individuals and to choose the path that is right for them.  The range and diversity of the subjects the girls are going on to study is a reflection of this and I hope that as a school we have given the girls the confidence to continue to be themselves for the rest of their lives.”

Among those celebrating today were cousins Alice and Amy Brown who achieved 5 A* grades and 1 A grade between them.  Alice, who 2 years ago achieved straight A*s at GCSE, was awarded 2 A*s and 1 A and has now secured a place to study Medicine at Bristol University.  Meanwhile, Amy, achieved a full set of 3 A*s and is going on to study Veterinary Medicine after a well-deserved Gap Year.  Alice said,

“I’m so happy.  It was a lot of hard work but I’ve got my place to study Medicine at Bristol University, so it was definitely worth it.  The teachers at Harrogate Ladies’ College have helped and supported me all the way – they helped me believe I could do it!”
