What Highfield Offers

Highfield was established in 1999, as the junior or prep department of Harrogate Ladies’ College. It shares the values and aims of HLC, a pioneer in girls’ education from the late nineteenth century and a School with a very distinguished history.  Indeed, the establishment of Highfield is a sign of HLC’s ability to adapt to the changing demands of the time.

Highfield offers a purposeful, happy and secure environment for girls and boys aged 4-11.  Its main building has a comfortable and welcoming air.  When the section was planned, it was felt important to place it in a building which will not overwhelm young children on their first venture into school.  The facilities within the Highfield-building are designed for younger children and allow the specialised teaching that infant and junior teaching require.  The sense of intimacy breeds a security and purposefulness of great benefit to the children.

At the same time, girls and boys in Highfield enjoy the opportunities that the excellent facilities and magnificent site of HLC afford.

Like Bankfield and College, Highfield has a distinct character and an ethos based around valuing the individual child.

Everything that happens in Highfield is in the interests of the pupils who form its community.
