Psychology is taught in the new HLC Business School and is a very recent addition to Harrogate Ladies’ College.
Psychology is offered at AS and A2 and provides girls with an insight in to different aspects of human behaviour, including obedience, memory and forgetting.
Within the subject pupils will learn about real life issues such as the reliability of eye-witness testimonies, football hooliganism, and autism to name just a few. Pupils are also given opportunities to conduct their own research projects, based on topics covered in class.
No prior knowledge of Psychology is required, but excellent English skills and a grade C or above in GCSE Mathematics will make the course more accessible. It is crucial that any pupil wishing to take Psychology is eager to learn about how and why humans act in certain ways.
