Economics

“But while I loved all of these courses, there was an irresistible attraction to economics.”  Joseph P Stiglitz

Economics is taught in the new HLC Business School, which is an indicator of the importance HLC places on entrepreneurial education.

Economics is the study of how and why people interrelate with each other in the production of goods and services.  It is a wide-ranging discipline which excites praise and opprobrium in almost equal measure.

Economics is offered in the Sixth Form at AS and A2 level.  Those who study this subject discover that it is a dynamic (social) science, constantly changing to reflect the shifting patterns in the economic affairs of local, regional, national and world environments.

A critical approach is used to analyse, evaluate and apply economic models, often in numerical and graphical forms, to current economic behaviour.

No prior learning is required but students with a grade B in GCSE Mathematics and English Language would find A level Economics more accessible.
