ICT

“I’m not wild about computers myself, but they are a tool. If you have a tool, it’s stupid not to use it.” Dr Who

The aim of the ICT department is to ensure that every girl becomes confident and competent when using a computer.

ICT is embedded across the curriculum at Harrogate Ladies’ College to enhance teaching and learning. We aim to ensure that girls receive a rounded education, with a focus on ICT for a purpose. Each department makes use of the three suites as we strive to ensure that we provide girls with all of the ICT skills necessary for coursework commitments, higher education and modern life.

In Lower School (Year 7-9), girls undertake a programme designed to ensure that they are familiar with the network, the e-mail system and the software available to them. By the end of Upper 3 (Year 7), girls should have a broad knowledge of ICT, appropriate software selection and the rudiments of most major pieces of software. We focus (although not exclusively) on using Microsoft Office and Adobe Web Standard Suites of software.

ICT is offered at GSCE level.
