Pastoral Care

At the heart of each child’s development is a form Tutor who is responsible for their day to day care and well-being. Each classroom is a safe and comfortable environment in which the child may grow. Our Prep 6 pupils are given the opportunity to act as Prefects and through this role take responsibility for the care of the younger children in the school as well as taking a greater part in the decision making that makes the school work as it does. Our aim is to encourage the growth and development of polite, self-disciplined, responsible young people and the school is structured in such a way as to allow each child to achieve this goal.

Moral and social development in young people is a continuous process and opportunities for this arise throughout the day – in the classroom, assemblies, dining room, playground, sports field and through the delivery of our PSHE programme. We encourage children to aim for the highest standards in whatever they are doing and the caring and friendly environment in evidence at Highfield lends itself to this end very effectively.
