Girls who enter the Sixth Form at Harrogate Ladies’ College are of course seeking academic success in their chosen A level subjects; they are ambitious, focused and realistic young women who relish the challenges of new responsibilities and increased independence. But success cannot and must not be measured solely in terms of examination grades.

It is undoubtedly true that employers and admissions tutors are increasingly looking for evidence of initiative, commitment and enthusiasm for personal interests ‘outside the classroom’. We encourage our girls to balance as many ‘plates on poles’ as possible; the moment one plate is up and spinning, girls should be reaching out for the next.

Our Autumn Term Programme of Events offers girls the opportunity to taste all sorts of different activities, from opera to pantomime; from walking in the Yorkshire Dales to debating ‘hot’ topics vigorously; from scrambling up climbing walls to sampling Willy Wonka’s chocolate river!

The highlight of our social calendar is the end of year Sixth Form Ball, held in a local hotel.

So: do we ever get bored?
