HLC’S RESULTS SPARKLE
Girls at Harrogate Ladies’ College enjoyed another very successful round of results at A Level and GCSE this summer.
At A Level: 77% of all grades gained were at A or B. Thirteen pupils gained at least 3 As. Lucy Smith, last year’s Head Girl, gained four straight As and Distinctions in the two Advanced Extension papers she sat. Harriet Round, Elaine Chen and Angela Cai also gained As at A Level and Distinctions in Advanced Extension papers. With such terrific results, all the girls secured places at their chosen universities. 80% gained admission to their first choice university.
At GCSE: 70% of grades obtained were either A*s or As. Every girl passed English, Maths and the Science examinations she took – most gained A*s or As in them. Our top performing girls were Lucy Welch, Molly Powderley, Victoria Martin, Sophie Stott, Eleanor Pick and Alice Bainbridge with 51 A*s and 17 As between them!
Such results confirm Harrogate Ladies’ College’s place among the county’s top schools (both independent and state).
We all know that examination results are not everything in education (or life). They are important though for opening doors to opportunity.
At Harrogate Ladies’ College, girls this year, as every year, have the world before them.
Well done and best wishes.

'The quality of pupils’ application and attitudes fully meet the aims associated with the development of flexibility, intellectual rigour and performance that goes beyond examination success.''In both GCSE and A-level examinations the school’s results over the past three years have been well above the national average for girls in all maintained secondary schools.''As a consequence of A-level success, almost all the Year 13 pupils are enabled to go on to their first choice at higher education, including Oxford and Cambridge.'
