The House System

All girls, both day and boarding, belong to a Competitive House. We have recently separated the Competitive Houses from the Boarding Houses. Our new Competitive Houses have been re-named after four famous and influential women – Austen, Franklin, Nightingale and Pankhurst. Our girls are encouraged to find out more about these women and to take them as role models. The Competitive House system gives every girl the opportunity to engage in healthy rivalry. Our girls enjoy competitions in a variety of Inter- House events including Drama, Music, Public Speaking and most of our major sports, and points are awarded on a sliding scale to those who participate. Girls’ success in academic pursuit, their good behaviour, their community service and their “random acts of kindness” all contribute towards points for the Inter-House Cup, awarded each term.
