TASTER DAY

Choosing a secondary school for your daughter is an extremely big decision, one that cannot be taken lightly. Visiting Harrogate Ladies’ College on Taster Day allows not only parents but also the girls themselves to ‘taste’ what we are all about.

Our biggest ‘open day’ of the year takes place every October. This is the perfect opportunity for girls in Year 5 and 6 to come and sample life at Harrogate Ladies’ College. The day is centred on a theme and girls carry out a full timetabled day experiencing lessons in some of our ‘top of the range’ facilities. This year’s theme will be ‘A Bug’s Life’….so you may make butterfly cakes in Food Technology, discover what wildlife lies beneath the autumn leaves in Science, learn about The Plague in History, or create your very own jitterbug in Design Technology.

Shortly after dropping girls off in the morning, prospective parents are invited to attend a presentation led by the Headmistress with the help of staff and girls from the sixth form. This gives parents information about what life at Harrogate Ladies’ College is really like: the activities that are undertaken in daily schedules, both academic and extra curricular; the pastoral care that is so important when girls move up into secondary education; the application processes and how girls proceed through the school towards A levels and university!

Full tours of the working school are then offered by members of staff before guests are invited to a buffet lunch.
