Entry Procedure

We know from research that your daughter’s wishes are very important in choosing a new school. She will be invited to spend a working day with girls of her own age to look after her, and, if a boarding place is sought, she could sleep overnight. Within this visit we would allocate two to three hours for her to sit assessment tests in Verbal Reasoning, English and Mathematics. The results of these papers allow us to place your daughter accurately. We also use them to identify girls who qualify for academic scholarships. Within a few days you will receive a written report from the Head, together with any offer of a place.

The second part of the entry procedure is your acceptance of the place, together with a fee deposit. This will be deducted from your final account when your daughter leaves College.

Then follows an entry pack with all the details of College life – term dates, uniform lists, lists for riding lessons, music lessons and so on. Uniform is available new and "nearly new" in the school shop and its opening times are printed in the pack.

The procedure is slightly different for girls entering College after the age of 15. The offer of a place will follow an interview and sight of recent reports from your daughter’s present school.

Girls new to College are carefully monitored both academically and pastorally. You will receive a letter at the first half term saying how your daughter has settled in and mentioning strengths and weaknesses in subjects. Thereafter progress is recorded by written report at the end of each term, and via at least one Parents’ Meeting for your daughter’s age group each year. If there is reason for concern at any other time, we will contact you straight away. If you are worried about anything, your daughter’s Head of Year will help.
