The Governoring Body Comprises:-

Dr. Ruth Bradby taught Religious Studies at Kingsmead School on the Wirral for 15 years. During that time she established the GCSE programme in RE. She has a Ph.D. from Liverpool University in contemporary spiritualities in modern culture.

Chris Davies worked in Financial Services as an Executive Director for seven years. He has spent the last two years building his own business 2plan Group Ltd, which recently received a 15 per cent investment from Standard Life plc. He has two daughters who are pupils at Harrogate Ladies’ College.

Val Davies taught at Harrogate Ladies’ College for more than 25 years. She was Head of Maths and acting Deputy Head for a short period. Val was Pastoral Deputy Head at Ashville College for eight years. She has now retired.

Dr. Angela Fahy works as a consultant for a firm of solicitors in which she was originally a partner. Specialising in Property Law and Planning Law, Angela also lectures in law at BBP Law School in Leeds.

Susan Gosling retired as a partner in Ernst & Young last summer, having worked with the firm for 26 years in London, Seattle and Yorkshire. Susan is an adviser to businesses ranging from family concerns to major plcs. She has been a governor at Harrogate Ladies’ College for two-and-a-half years and chairs the Finance and General Purpose Committee.

James Poskitt is a Chartered Surveyor and is Managing Director of a Leeds-based property development and investment company. He is also Chairman of the Estates Committee. Two of his children attend Highfield Prep School.

Sarah Pullan is a Chartered Accountant by profession. She has operated in the corporate finance sector as an advisor and a venture capital investor. She has also been a non-executive director of a number of private companies in a range of sectors.

Alan Skidmore was appointed as Chairman of Governors in 2005. Alan completed a full career as a soldier in the Corps of Royal Engineers. He served as Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate in 2003 and was also Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources for the Council for two years.

Alan Taylor is a Barrister practising from Chambers in Leeds. He specialises in criminal, family and regulatory law. He has two daughters who are pupils at Harrogate Ladies’ College. He lists his interests as Arsenal FC, horse racing and rock music!

John Tranmer is Headmaster of the Froebelian School in Leeds and father of a former HLC pupil, Charlotte. In 2009-10, Mr Tranmer is also Chairman of the Independent Association of Prep Schools.

Rachel Tunnicliffe is a partner in a law firm in Leeds, heading up the trusts and estates team. She has two children and is involved in running groups for toddlers and teenagers at St Mark's Church, Harrogate.
