Early Years Principles

To ensure we provide a relevant curriculum with well qualified experienced staff to implement it.

  • No child will be excluded or disadvantaged because of ethnicity, culture or religion, home language, family background, special educational needs, disability, gender or ability.
  • Staff understand that children develop rapidly during their early years, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Our children are entitled to a provision that supports and extends knowledge, skills, understanding and confidence.
  • Staff ensure children feel included, secure and valued. Staff build positive relationships with parents in order to work effectively with them and their children through our key person system.
  • At Bankfield we build on what children already know and skills they have developed. We encourage a positive attitude and disposition to learn.
  • We work in partnership with parents in an atmosphere of mutual respect within which children have security and confidence. Our relationship with parents is hugely important to us. We aim to involve parents in their child’s time at Bankfield. It is important for parents to share their child’s achievement out of Bankfield so we may plan for children’s individual development.

Our children are included and their views sought when planning for future activities. Weekly planning meetings with children ensure their ideas are valued and built upon.
